Whereas, zentangles are purposeful in nature because they encourage you to be mindful and focused on the pattern you are creating. The majority of doodles are unplanned and random. People often doodle out of boredom in their notebooks, while talking on the phone, or during class. Zentangles require focus and intent, whereas most doodling is spontaneous. So what’s the difference between doodling and zentangling? This is a question I get asked a lot when it comes to these art forms because the lines between them are often blurred.
