![]() ![]() I am making progress, currently working on piecing together the actual "games" to be provided. I see it now and I'm trying to become a core dev to contribute more. The contentDB contains about 1100+ maintained and growing games mods. I personally am working on a pokemon like game, and trying to work in new physics systems for flight, vehicle movement, etc. The end game for minetest is not Garry's mod, it's just a different voxel engine that's 100% open source and runs on a potato fast. Edit: Multithreading will only works in some places, often not where you would expect. The engine itself is undergoing massive improvements including shadows, multithreading where possible, etc. There's a huge amount of private servers being hosted for families. It has roughly ~1000 active players on public servers weekly. Minetest is very much under heavy active development almost at all times. I personally am working on a boxed version of mine test for selling in retail storefronts, but I'm an outlier. Hope this post was not too complicated! Peace. I’ve been concerned about the future of Minetest as to how it sees itself in the future as a game, that if it wishes to remain as it is and only be recognized by a quite small community, or become something that is at least big enough to be a recognizable experience by a big community. Does it have any objective in maturing like having comparable appealing animations and having a little bit more refined details? It is still lacking of clarity to me as to what Minetest’s goal is as a game that at least differs from Minecraft. ‘Does Minetest ever plan on significantly increasing its popularity (to at least near a recognizable game such as Garry’s Mod)’ I’ve known Minetest to be really just the “Linux” version of Minecraft much less popular and can be built from the ground up (through mods) and by default has a woeful set of features compared to a similar yet corporate game. ‘Are the Minetest Mods still being actively maintained by their developers?’ I have been planning on returning to Minetest for quite some time now and have been wondering if there’s still a considerable amount of active players and servers, based on what you’ve seen recently at least. ‘Are there still many players and active servers in Minetest?’ ![]() I would like to ask a few questions regarding the current state of Minetest today (This mid-2021) ![]()
